2008 – 09 Oregon CEC Officers

David Guardino, President

David’s involvement with the Council for Exceptional Children began with his two year run as president of the University of Oregon Student Chapter during his graduate studies.  His involvement increased when he was elected President of Oregon CEC State Unit in 2006.  Professionally, David has worked at the Oregon Department of Education since 2006, overseeing Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) initiatives, as well as the State Personnel Development Grant.  In 2007, David became the coordinator of the Systems Performance Review and Improvement process.  David lives in Tigard with his wife Minkung and two beautiful daughters, Jade and Zoey.

Tobias Rickard, President Elect

Toby became a member of the CEC while getting his masters in special education at the University of Oregon in 2001. As an autism consultant for the Eugene School District he has found the CEC to be an incredibly inspiring resource. Whether it is keeping current with research in the field with EC publications or hearing it first hand at the annual CEC conference. Toby lives in Eugene with his wife Heather, their son Leo, and her two children Caleb and Maddy.

Steve Korin, Treasurer

Steve traces his involvement with CEC back to his grandmother Beatrice Stillwell who served as a board member for the New Jersey CEC chapter.  Steve joined CEC while a getting his Masters in Elementary Special Education at the University of Oregon.  During his three years of classroom teaching in the Eugene 4J School District, Steve relied on CEC’s Teaching magazine to keep him current on best practices.  He thoroughly enjoyed running from session to session at his first CEC national conference in Seattle in 2009.  Steve lives in Eugene with his wife, two cats and six chickens.

Larry Linebaugh, Secretary

Larry worked two years as an instructional assistant where he learned honed his skill and desire to help students with special needs.  He joined CEC as a graduate student at the University of Oregon while completing his Masters in Elementary Special Education with a concentration in working with students with low incidence disabilities.  Larry is licensed to teach in K-8th grade classrooms.   He currently lives in Salem and is also a competitive cyclist, a 6th grade basketball coach, and enjoys reading graphic novels.
